A LITTLE HISTORY...
Mivis Joinery is a joint venture between long-time friends turned business partners Michael Madden and Travis Carey. Having been close workmates for many years, they saw an opportunity to create a high-end cabinetmaking business that could service commercial clients and residential builders looking for quality workmanship and exceptional customer service. From its humble beginnings in a small 50sqm shed, Mivis Joinery now occupies a 1000sqm factory fitted out with the latest computer technology, state-of-the-art machinery and a full team of highly-skilled staff that now service Queenslands best builders, architects and designers. Mivis has quickly become established as an industry leader when it comes to high-end, custom cabinetry for full-house fit outs and commercial internal joinery.
INVESTMENT IN OUR TEAM...
Because both Michael and Travis were apprentices, they understand the need to mentor more young people into the cabinet making trade and they have made a point of continuing to employ apprentices within Mivis Joinery.
All Mivis apprentices benefit from the hands-on approach both Michael and Travis take to their education and onsite experience. As a business, Mivis Joinery benefits hugely from an investment in these young people, and being able to mould them and oversee their growth in skills and experience.
Michael and Travis also know the industry at large benefits from a continued investment in apprentices to ensure the longevity of the trade. Their approach to the team is to establish a positive culture right from the start. As mentors, they approach communication in a way that builds a safe environment in which everyone can learn and grow within the business.
GETTING TO KNOW MICHAEL & TRAVIS...
Both Michael and Travis had an interest in cabinet making from a young age, having family members who were in the industry, and embarked on their cabinet making training straight from school.
From the very start of Mivis Joinery, Michael and Travis knew they wanted to specialise in custom joinery. Although their background was in commercial, mass-produced cabinetry, they both felt it was important to take control of as much of the manufacturing and installation process as possible. An early business goal was to move quickly to be able to cut their own board and provide additional services, which then allowed them to scale up the business over the years.
As business partners, they bring equal skill, passion and value to the business. Michael loves nothing more than to nurture the business and implement a culture of continuous improvement. Travis’ passion for building a team & community culture is a positive influence on the team and the wider community.
